Hi Phoebe,

Related to Fong Bao Bao! Am I in the presence of royalty or what?!

Those records you mentioned are as rare as hen's teeth over here. It's hard enough to find Fong Bao Bao's records in Chinese, much less the English ones. And you gave them away!

I remember the Hollies' version of Carrie Anne. What a great song it is. "Hey, Carrie-Anne, what's your game now? Can anybody play?" Fong Bao Bao's version should be a hoot.

I think there were three Chinese pop divas who were famous at around the same time, namely Fong Bao Bao, Chan Pao Chu and Shao Fong Fong.

For lao ge (old Shanghainese songs), none could beat Grace Chang (Ge Lan), Chow Hsuan, Tsui Ping, Yao Li and Li Hsiang Lan.

Here's a picture of my Tsui Ping/Billie Tam record where the two sang a song made famous by Grace Chang called "Hula Hula Twist".
