there were two Mah Chehs in the curry mee stall. Now that you have jolted my memory, I can recall standing there for almost an hour with my 4-tier tiffin carrier, waiting for my turn to buy the much-sought after dry curry noodles. The thinner Mah Cheh was the boss lady and she called the shots. The other Mah Cheh was employed as a server, and she helps to remember the orders of the customers from each table. When it gets really busy, the two stressed-out ladies tend to get into each other's nerves and they snarled at one another. If there were complaints about wrong orders, the bickering would further escalate, but they were never loud and obnoxious. As an innocent bystander, I was the silent observer of this "side-show" that helps to alleviate the boredom of the seemingly endless wait for my turn to be served.

Oh, those were the days when I was willing to put up with all the fuss just for a bowl of mouth-watering curry mee!

Once again, you were instrumental in restoring my chain of thoughts about the good old days. Thanks!!

Fond regards and best wishes.

Ken.
