Hmmm. I could've sworn I had lunch at Apple Jam one afternoon with a bunch of school mates. I was celebrating a little windfall courtesy of the 'one-arm bandit' at the Sports Club. For an 11 year-old kid, Apple Jam was definitely a cool place to hang out.The waiters wore black collarless t-shirts with multi-coloured long sleeves and the Apple Jam logo sewn on the front. My maid's son worked there for a short spell, and I got her to ask him to give me two t-shirts! It looked really fetch during the 70s, but I don't think I'd wear one today. I'd rather be drawn and quartered.
According to ex-DJ Anja, the name for the joint came from a George Harrison record, also called Apple Jam.
