The 2 are the same. And if the one in Pasir Puteh is still in business, then I am amazed. The last time I was there was in '73.How did I know the 2 were related? Well, I used to get sent out to the 'Curry Laksa' shop in town in the mornings to buy breakfast for everyone. Armed with a 4-layer tiffin carrier in hand, I lined up patiently for what seemed like hours until it was my turn.
One day, I overheard a friend tell mum that a 'sister' stall in Pasir Puteh sold the exact same thing, although it was less 'laku' (which mum interpreted to be 'not as tasty').
So the next time I got sent on breakfast-buying errands, I went to the stall in Pasir Puteh! This trick worked a few times until one day mum got suspicious because I returned home, food in tow, unusually fast. Too fast it seemed considering the curry laksa stall in town was very crowded! Suffice it to say she found out the truth and I got mercilessly shelled.
