Thank you Ann for the info about the New Lee How Fook Restaurant. I remember the name well because my brother's wedding banquet was held there more than 30 years ago when it was located in Jln. Ali Pitchay. The food was good then and I look forward to trying their new establishment when I visit Ipoh again in future.

Ipoh's food is indeed legendary and I have very fond memories of the famous stalls I use to patronize in th 70's and early 80's. There is a very good Malaysian restaurant in Chicago but then, there is nothing like the real thing. During my recent visit, I was able to locate the curry noodles on Hugh Low Street, across from the new town police station. The old shop has closed and the stall has shifted to another kopitiam across the street. I aslo managed to track down the Indian rojak that was sold behind Main Convent during the good old days. The stall is now in Tesco Supermarket's food court in Ipoh Garden. Canning Garden's famous "Chee Cheong Fun" is no where to be found. It seems the hawker has relocated to PJ. Another item of interest is the rojak sold on the five foot way
across from Sun Cinema. The stall is no longer there and no one knows if it is still in business. My all-time favorite is the "Lok Lok" stall on Theater Street, opposite Capitol Cinema. The "kuah" is so good that it is really something to die for! Once again, no one knows the whereabouts of this stall, like it has simply disappeared from the face of the earth.

I can go on and on with my favorite stalls, but that is enough of reminiscing for the day. I have got to get back to the real world of Malaysian food in Chicago for now.

Warmest regards and best wishes from America to all Ipoh Talk kakis.

Bye!

Ken
