I certainly remember Mum buying me lots of clothes from Kwong Fatt and Kamy cos those days, they were the "in" place to shop. Sadly, I can't remember buying toys from these shops though.

Sometime late 90s I was in Old Town and thought I recognised the old toy shop which was my 2nd fave after Paramount House. Too bad I didn't take a photo. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Kwong Fatt although it was located quite near there.

I'll deviate a bit by mentioning Penang's Chowrasta Market here. Long ago before Gurney Plaza and Prangin Mall, even before Komtar, the "in" place to shop was the emporium above the Chowrasta Market. I bought my 24 and later 36 colour pencils there and was so proud when I brought them back to Main Convent Ipoh to show my primary school mates. Those days almost everyone had 6 or 12 colour pencils, usually Luna brand so to have 24 and 36 was super cool!

Cheers!

Ann
