There was another popular pre-Toys r Us toy shop in Ipoh called Keok Cheong Kei but it was in New Town aka "sun kai cheong" I think. That was how I pronounced the shop but it may be spelt differently. Proprietor was a Chinese woman. They sold more common things like kaleidoscopes, robots, aeroplanes, balloons with air-pump (a cardboard plunger actually), bubble blowers, stink bombs and what not. I think Mr. Arasu would rather have a fit than sell stink bombs in a dignified establishment like Paramount House.
